New on-line services for Gaelic education

Stòrlann Nàiseanta na Gàidhlig launches two new on-line services for Gaelic education on Thursday 30 Lùnastal 2007.

An Seotal: Terminology database for secondary schools

An Seotal brings together new and established terminology for subject-teaching through the medium of Gaelic in the secondary school. Designed by Ness-based EMC, the service is funded by the Scottish Executive (through the Gaelic Secondary ICT Implementation Group) and Bòrd na Gàidhlig. New terminology will be uploaded regularly into the database over the next year and the service will be live while upload takes place so that users may benefit from new terminology immediately and submit their own opinions and requests regarding the ongoing work.

www.gaelic4parents.com: ‘I am SO very happy to have found this website!’

The first stage of the gaelic4parents project, which showcases Gaelic language and learning opportunities for parents who have enrolled their children in a Gaelic nursery or playgroup, or who are considering Gaelic-medium education for their children, has proven a great success. A new secure on-line community is now under construction within which parents of primary-school-aged children attending GME can create family homepages, use ‘chat’ facilities to link to other families and access support from trained professionals with homework or language queries.
